Name: LockJaw
Story appearances: Antrodus series (in development)
Height: 71 meters
Length: 132 meters
Weight: 59,780 tons
Origin Story: Reverse engineered from alien technology, the techniques used by the US government to breed LockJaw as a bio-weapon proved to be extremely unstable, with most of the experiments resulting in, at best, constant and random growth, cancerous tumors, and retardation. At the time, LockJaw was considered a phenomenal success, as was his “brother” Tusk. LockJaw was the more violent and ravenous of the two, and when he escaped, he chased Tusk through several cities, fighting viciously for hours before Tusk would retreat, until LockJaw finally killed him. After feeding on Tusk, LockJaw turned his bloodstained maw towards the rest of Earth’s kaiju.
Personality: Driven nearly entirely by hunger, territoriality, and aggression, LockJaw is an incredibly dangerous beast. While not very bright, he is capable of planning out simple ambushes, since he found out that running straight up to prey doesn’t work very well.
Special Abilities: Strength: LockJaw’s strength is astronomical, easily capable of tossing monsters his own weight with only his neck and jaws. Considering his jaws, LockJaw is able to crush his jaws through anything short of diamond, usually with one firm snap. His strength is derived from his regeneration, as when his muscles tear they heal stronger than before, in the usual fashion, at an incredible rate.
Regeneration: If wounded, LockJaw is able to regrow an entire arm within minutes. This ability works best when LockJaw has a full stomach, with the flesh and bone of his prey digested and processed nearly directly into the needed materials. Even neural tissue will grow back swiftly, including the brain. However, LockJaw’s regeneration can be halted with fire, though he knows this and won’t hesitate to bite off the cooked meat if he can reach it.
Hide: LockJaw’s skin is very thick, completely impervious to military ordinance, explosives, and glancing slashes. The best way to over come this is either fire or a stabbing or chopping type of wound.
Combat style: Nearly constantly hungry, LockJaw is driven almost solely by his stomach. Therefore, if his opponent is inedible or inorganic he won’t launch the first attack. However, if it smells like food he’ll charge straight at it, jaws wide and claws ready. If the first charge doesn’t kill the other beast, LockJaw will use his entire body to crush, rip, and soon devour them. Very direct in his combat style, LockJaw never uses any sort of strategy, relying entirely on his colossal strength. Also, LockJaw has an absurdly high tolerance to pain, ignoring nearly all attacks and even ripping out chunks of his own flesh to speed his regeneration.
Strengths and Weaknesses: LockJaw’s strengths are his physical power, thick hide, rapid regeneration, terrifying aggression, and size. However, he’s always less interested when his opponent is inedible, and will leave them alone if they do the same. Reasonably quick in a short charge, he is unable to maintain his speed over a long distance, or turn rapidly, leaving him more vulnerable to swift, agile kaiju. Also, his temper and hunger are easily exploited, causing him to hurt himself when he gets carried away. Stated earlier, LockJaw is vulnerable to fire, as it cauterizes any wounds he has at the time and, if he can’t tear it out, won’t heal. LockJaw is also totally vulnerable to any ranged weapons, possessing none of his own.
Sample Fight: LockJaw vs. Titanosaurus and MechaGodzilla ‘75, Tokyo
Titanosaurus rose out of the water, warbling out in confused rage. Under the alien mind control, Titanosaurus lashed out at the city before him, smashing down several nearby buildings. Unknown to both him and his alien masters, however, was the massive green Tyrannosaur stalking him through the city streets. Initially arriving to hunt for smaller Kamacurii, LockJaw swam from Monster Island to Tokyo at the scent of larger prey. LockJaw flanked around the other dinosaur, drool falling to the ground in great ropes. Titanosaurus, utterly oblivious, was totally caught off guard when the slobbering carnivore launched his bulk through the building to his right, tackling him and taking a massive, ragged chunk out of his shoulder. Screaming in terror and pain, Titanosaurus lashed out with his good arm, knocking LockJaw off. Staggering slightly, LockJaw tried to swallow his prize quickly so he could take another bite. Titanosaurus, seeing a good opportunity, uppercut him in the throat. Hacking, the larger theropod reeled, and coughed out his morsel. Enraged, LockJaw rammed his bony skull into Titano’s chest, knocking the wind out of the red saurian. Biting into his ankle, LockJaw lifted Titanosaurus off the ground and hurled him into another nearby building. Leaping through the air, LockJaw landed on Titanosaurus and smashed his jaws into his thin hide, ripping out flesh. Occasionally stomping on the smaller dinosaur to keep it down, LockJaw fed as quickly as possible to quench his appetite.
Angry and confused at the lost of Titanosaurus, his ape-like masters sent out MechaGodzilla, as scheduled, and simply changed his goal from smashing Tokyo to killing the carnivore and THEN smashing Tokyo.
MechaGodzilla landed nearby LockJaw, about two blocks away. LockJaw continued feeding, ignoring the mechanical kaiju-killer in front of him. MechaGodzilla fired a barrage of finger missiles at the large reptile. Stabbing deep into his hide, LockJaw reared his bloody head and roared in fury. The wounds quickly regenerated, the missiles falling to the ground. Stamping his great taloned foot on his kill, LockJaw bellowed at his attacked, as his brain formed the idea that the robot wanted to steal his meal. It didn’t smell like food itself, so if he could, he’ld just scare it away and get on with dinner. MechaGodzilla had other plans, and hit LockJaw with his eyebeams. Taking the blast in the chest, LockJaw hissed and tried to look at the wound, not feeling the familiar sense his regeneration gave him. Now he was angry. Charging, LockJaw smashed his skull into MechaGodzilla’s chest, denting the metal. Turning to sink his spike-like teeth into the machine, he instead got a mouthful of missiles. Screaming out in genuine pain, he turned away, accidently slamming his tail into the alien mech and knocking it to the ground. Blood, saliva, and small bits of Titanosaurus oozed from his massive maw, and by the time the missiles feel out and the wounds healed, MechaGodzilla was up and in the air. Stamping his feet irritably, LockJaw roared up at MechaGodzilla, who replied by shooting LockJaw in the back with his eyebeams in a low swoop. Grunting from the blow, LockJaw ran up to the mech, and, when he was under it, leapt up and grabbed it’s leg. MechaGodzilla, startled as a machine can be, fell back to the ground with LockJaw dangling off. Both landed in an area already destroyed by Titanosaurus, and MechaGodzilla gained his footing first, only to lose it when a muscular hind limb smashed his knee, breaking the metal with a grinding screech. LockJaw stood, stomped a foot-shaped dent into the robotic terror, and snapped his jaws over the mech’s head, tooth clacking against tooth almost instantly.
