Physical description:
When one thinks of a natural tank, what usually comes to mind? Either the rhino or ankylosaurus, at least for me. When one thinks of a tank-kaiju.... Ankylotherium will definitely be it.
Anky is a four-legged juggernaut, and at first glance, looks much like an Uintatherium, but covered in Ankylosaurus-like armor.
The body still remains in the form of a Uintatherium, but covered in that form of armor-like ridges that coat its upper-parts and head. It still has all the Uintatherium horns on its head. The main most visual difference in Ankylotherium is its longer tail. This tail is covered in the same armor as its body and ends in, you guessed it, a club.
Now for some not-so visual differences. It can be hard to tell at times, but Ankylotherium's maw is actually wider than a Uintatherium's and is filled with hippo-like tusks. Now it doesn't look like a hippo's maw, but the insides of the mouth do... along with some grinding teeth to chew its food... Yes, he is a herbivore.
Origin Story: Ankylotherium is one of the many mutants spawned from the Klenthurian assault on Earth. Along with his herd, Ankylotherium minded its own businesses for the most part. It wasn't uncommon, however, for the herd to often get into fights with 30-member large Saber Lion pride. Saber Lions, virtually being large lions with saber fangs, would often try and attack smaller and weaker members of the herd.
It was on one of these attacks where a large battle would take place at the place known as Kruger. Along with Panzer, a kaiju much like the theriums and often found with them, the group drank at the crater-made water hole. The Saber Lions attacked a small calf, but the herd wasn't about to back down, especially Panzer and Ankylotherium.
Coming to the aid of the small calf was Suchodon whom had brought along to the area by the U.E.D.F forces. A sort of tug of watter formed between the lions and Suchodon with the calf before the two juggernauts rushed in and gored many members of the pride. The lions were forced to retreat and the calf was saved. A short-lived standstill broke out between Suchodon and the herd before the powerful vegetarians turned and walked away.
Days later, the herd returned. Returning the favor that Suchodon had done for the calf. As Myermek, a massive colony of ants, attacked the forces, the herd arrived to do battle and held back the massive monster as the humans escaped.
Personality: Ankylotherium is the head of the herd. The bull if you will. If something is endangering even the smallest and weakest member of his family, he will attack it until its dead or flees. When not defending his turf, Ankylotherium is one of the most docile kaiju around.
Special Abilities:
- Gore!: Gore! Gore! Gore! This attack should be pretty self-explanatory. For those that don't get it, Ankylotherium charges forward with its head lowered. After this it has several options... It can run over the enemy, lift them onto its head and throw them, or do the classic bull-gore... That just pushing them across the ground with its horns.
- Club : The club that tips his tail is lethal. The smashing blows this power house of a weapon can do can create dents in even the toughest of mechs and shatter most materials.
- Armor: Ankylotherium is a tank. The armor that protects its body is strong enough to withstand several Spiral Grenade Missiles without breaking.
- Tusked Bite: While Ankylotherium's bite doesn't come into one's mind fast, the armored monster's maw is filled with many hippo-like tusks and the jaws are powerful for being a vegetarian. His bite force has been directly measured out to be 27,258 tons.
Combat style: He fights much like you'd expect him too. Ramming his foes with his horns, goring them, and using his powerful tail. Sense he so armored, he can often charge ahead despite being assaulted by multiple projectiles.
Strengths and Weaknesses: Has no ranged weapons to speak of, but his thick armor, added with his powerful tail, make him a beast at melee combat. Must turn to use his tail in battle, but is also able to use his horns and bite in battle.
Sample Fight:
Death and destruction crawled about the African plains as darkness engulfed the sky. The beast's sorrowful eyes gazed across the burnt landscape, remembering the once beauty that housed his kind before it came along. His brothers and sisters lay scattered about, some in fine condition, but dead... The others transformed into lifeless skeletons that had been given a much, much more painful death.
This shall not do!
The four legged juggernaut's head lifted into the air and released a bellowing cry. Something had just certified the death of his species... But he's gonna' make sure whatever it is will go down with them.
Days and moons played hide and seek in the sky as the creature searched high and low. Ruined town to ruined town and finally he picked up its prints. So ugly and disfigured they are.
A snarling shout came from his maw again, but the shout was answered with a trumpeting wail. Insulted by something that dared to survive in the dead ecosystem, let alone something challenging him... Destoroyah spread out its wings to show off his hulking bod.
Ankylotherium, the once proud leader of the heard, slowly turned to face the beast. The Earth cried out in fear with every step as it turned, and before the two locked eyes, a searing wave of pain bolted about the monster's hide. Smoke and a cloud of fire rose high and far as the Oxygen Destroyer Beam literally dissolved his armor.
The beast snorted, lowering its head as strands of drool fell from his closed maw. The ground quaked as the monster's body was carried along with its long strides. Destoroyah, the relentless terror, shouted and cried before spewing fourth another stream of its deadly weapon.
Despite the pain, Ankylotherium continuing trucking forward before... SMASH!
The two warriors collided. Ankylotherium continued charging, forcing Destoroyah back and making its talons dig deep trenches in the African soil. Finally, it took a Herculean effort, but the mutant monstrosity fell backward.
The sickening sounds of the armored beast's legs crushing Destoroyah underneath echoed for miles, and before the crustacean could even stand back up, its eyes bore witness to the sight of the monster turning around, ready to crush him again.
Without mercy, Destoroyah's horn lanced upward. The laser-like properties of the horn sliced downward at an angle, severing a large chunk of flesh from Ankylotherium's form.
A wash of crimson covered the ruined floor as the monster fell backward, screaming in agony as a fountain of blood spewed fourth from the side of his skull. Destoroyah shrieked, pushing itself off the ground and lashing out with its tail. The tail wrapped around Ankylotherium's throat, but the mutant wasn't out of commission, not yet anyway!
His body half-turned, pulling Destoroyah forward as he himself lashed out with his tail. The powerful appendage came down, crushing Destoroyah's tail beneath it. Destoroyah's tail went limp around his throat, and with another quick smack, a ruined peace of flesh hung from his head like a necklace.
The Oxygen Destroyer-spawn fell back once more, shrieking in pain as green goo spewed from the stump that had replaced his once lethal tail. As Destoroyah cried aloud, the monster walked forward. A shake of its head dropped the remaining piece of the tail to the ground and the tail came around again.
The trumpeting roar of Destoroyah was cut-off in mid-shout as the tail came down like a hammer on the back of its skull. The ground quickly became wet with green blood as the tail pulled upward. The head of Destoroyah was no more. What once housed a powerful horn, a terrible maw, wicked eyes, and large crests was now an overly large pile of mush and exoskeleton.
The killer was dead and his species was given its rightful vengeance! The occasional twitch was all that reminded Ankylotherium of its fight, and with another win under his belt, he walked home...
