It should be noted that a sheath of flehs covers the gills when on dry land.
Origin Story:
After the events of Kaiju Wars: New Dawn, new measures were taken by the various organizations to prepare counter-measures against kaiju and alien invaders. A rouge xenobiologist, formerly associated with UCKO (now UPAC), beleived that the onyl method to defeat monsters was with a monster of their own. Thus, using stolen Oblivion tissue samples and a genetic cocktail of shark DNA, he created Carcharius. The young mutant grew quickly, killed his creator, and escaped into the open ocean. Carcharius has spent the last 15 years growing to his present size, and is preparing t return to the surface to feed. Currently residing in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
Personality:
Carcharius is a super-aggressive brawler and as belligerent as possible for a monster to be. He tends to attack anything that moves or smells edible, although he will often ignore mechs unless attacked. He has limited intelligence and is largely incapable of any kind of strategy, save for a few moments of "higher thought". Any alliance with him is near impossible.
Special Abilities:
Offensive Abilities
1. Claws- Carcharius' hands have large, hooked talons, ideal for shredding flesh and armor. They can easily rend steel and titanium in their grip.
2. Jaws- Like a true shark, Carcharius has impressive bite strength, enough to crush titanium, and can hyperextend his jaws to engulf things that are a bit bigger than what he'd normally chow down on. He has three rows of fangs.
3. Fin Blades- Each of the fins on Carcharius' back, arms, and tail have sharp bones supporting them, and thus are ideal for slashing and cutting. It should be noted that Carcharius can use these just as effectively as his claws, but the wounds they generate are clean, rather than ragged.
4. Anti-Coagulant Bite- Carcharius' most lethal ability. He can secrete a powerful anti-coagulant through his bite, causing the wound to bleed profusely for two minutes. This also has a powerful regeneration blocker, which counter-acts all but the most powerful of regenerative abilities. But it does have it's limitations. It can affect most creatures, even those with a non-hemoglobin base for their blood. However, monsters that have blood substitutes such as acid, lava, or sap, are not affected by this. Machines and most cyborgs are also unaffected by this ability. It takes 15 seconds for the glands to refill before he can use the anti-coagulant again.
5. Super Strength- Despite his rather thin appearance, Carcharius is very strong, capable of shoving opponents more than double his weight around. This strength also translates into his jaws and other muscles.
6. Blood Frenzy- When his foe has lost a significant amount of blood, usually through his anti-coagulant bite, Carcharius enters a state known as Blood Frenzy, in which his strength increases by 50%, he becomes immune to all pain, and will press the assault regardless of damage to him, until he is forced into submission or killed, usually the latter.
Defensive Abilities
1. Armor Skin- Carcharius has thick skin, similar to Godzilla Heisei's. Additionally, it is coated with the same teeth-like protrusions called denticles that coat the skin of normal sharks, although to a much greater degree. This allows Carcharius to cause bleeding in foes by simply being in contact with them for short periods of time.
2. Amphibian- Carcharius can survive indefinitely on either land or water, but prefers to avoid being in places devoid of a sufficient water source, such as the desert.
3. Keen Scent- Carcharius has a keen sense of smell, and can also detect electromagnetic fields.
4. Resistances and Immunities-
Carcharius is immune to the effects of radiation.
Carcharius has been engineered so that he is immune to the effects of all known Earth poisons and diseases, be they natural or engineered. This ability also translates over to alien biological weapons, although to a much lesser extent.
Because of his relatively simple brain, Carcharius is hard to effect with mind reading and mental attack/suggestion abilities.
5. Regeneration- Carcharius, being partially composed of Oblivion DNA, has regeneration on par with Heisei Godzilla's.
Combat style:
Carcharius acts on pure instinct and thinks only of feeding at any given moment. If it's edible, he'll go for that monster first. Any appreciable degree of blood in the air/water will also attract his attentions. He does not back down, except when fighting mecha, as they are inedbile and are thus, not a potential food source. Carcharius is straightforward and brutal, going for obvious weak points such as the throat and intestines before targeting any other appendages.
Strengths and Weaknesses:
Carcharius is almost unstoppable in melee. He can shurg off light attacks and most medium attacks, has regeneration to help him shrug off additional damage, and has incredible stamina to boot. Once he gets going, there's no stopping him, on land or sea.
However, the complete lack of projectile weaponry and higher thought makes him weak against foes that possess either of those attributes, as they can out-gun him or outsmart him. Additionally, he tends to fight poorly during extended encounters in arid environments.
Sample Fight:
Carcharius vs Godzilla Showa
The city burned as the massive shark hybrid known as Carcharius rampaged through downtown. Already, the body of one Kamacuras lay torn open at his feet, and he was in the process of hunting down the second, when a somewhat familar roar echoed across the ruined skyline. Godzilla charged down the street, fists at the ready, and challenged the mutant to combat in defense of his territory.
Carcharius whipped around, flattening a building with his massive tailfin and roared in response, but spared to time waiting for his opponent as he charged down the street straight at Godzilla. The monster king hopped gamely and fired his ray at the monster, which struck Carcharius in the shoulder, wounding the beast, but not slowing him down in the slightest. Godzilla roared in agony as Carcharius slammed into his foe, tackling Godzilla to the ground with a resounding thud. He raised on taloned hand and brought it down across Godzilla's chest, a gout of blood spraying from the wound.
Godzilla screamed and fired his ray again, blinding Carcharius momentarily as the beast backed off slightly, allowing Godzilla to retaliate. The dinosaur kicked upwards, striking Carcharius in the chest and practically bowling the amalgam over too. But the mutated shark had other plans. His genes were from the most ancient killer on the planet and one of the most powerful monsters known to man. He would not be defeated easily. As Godzilla began to rise, Carcharius struck, backhanding Godzilla and knocking him into a nearby structure, before pouncing on his fallen foe. Godzilla pummeled at his face with his meaty fists, but nothing seemed to halt Carcharius as he quested for the monster king's throat.
Carcharius clamped down on the flesh there, but failed to notice that he only had the shoulder in his grip, as he bit down hard and tore, ripping flesh and muscle from their host. Godzilla howled in agony as blood sprayed from the wound, the scent of it lingering in Carcharius' nostrils and creating changes within the chemistry of his primitive brain. He swallowed the bloody mass whole and prepared to rip into Godzilla again, when the beast struck, catching him in the throat with a powerful punch. Carcharius wheezed as Godzilla followed up with another kick to the chest, driving him backwards and knocking the wind out of him in the process.
Godzilla stood, clutching his bloody shoulder. His regeneration should have been healing the wound and stopping the bleeding, but something was wrong. He looked at his foe and noticed the thick, viscous fluid dripping between his multiple rows of fangs. Carcharius' anti-coagulant was kicking in, continuing the flow of blood and blocking the regenerative abilities of the dinosaur. Carchrius regained his footing and charged again, blood-lust shining in his soulless eyes. He slammed into Godzilla, picking his foe up with sheer strength and slamming him back down again, cratering the streets on impact. Godzilla continued to bleed, which drove Carcharius insane with hunger.
His muscles bulged as he gripped Godzilla by the throat and hoisted him up before tossign him down the street again. Another building collapsed as the monster collided with it, and Carcharius was off again, chasing down his meal. Godzilla rose to his feet, determination blazing in his eyes, but he was no match for the mutant's raw strength. Carcharius struck once, catching Godzilla under the jaw, struck twice, ripping into his intestines, and spun around for a third strike, lacerating Godzilla's chest with his bladed tail.
The monster kick dropped on the spot, blood pouring from dozens of wounds and his bleeding shoulder, as Carcharius planted one foot on his shoulder and gripped his arm with one hand and his maw, sinking the fangs into flesh before applying pressure, snapping Godzilla's arm like a twig. The saurian maoned in agony as Carcharius tore flesh from bone and swallowed whole, before lifting up Godzilla one last time and sinkign his fangs into his throat, tearing open the jugular vein and ending the king's reighn once and for all. He gorged himself on the carcass until nothing was left before returning to the sea, his senses indicating bigger prey in the waters...
