Origin Story:
Create by a private defense contractor named Corona-Eclipse Enterprises during the aftermath of the Xillian invasion of 2005, Riptide was designed to be the vanguard of the new wave of anti-kaiju machinery. The release of the plans for Mechagodzilla II by the Japanese government, coupled with a number of recovered Xillian technologies, made the creation of such a machine possible. Riptide was designed to incorporate a variety of strengths from previous designs of machines, namely advanced firepower, strong and durable armor, shielding, and a greater degree of mobility (both in the air and on the ground) than previous machines.
Riptide was unveiled to the public in 2013, a year before the "New Dawn", although he did not engage in actual combat until June of 2014, when he engaged and drove off Neo-Spacegodzilla in an attack on Los Angeles. Riptide was instrumental in defening Earth from the Terran, another alien invasion force responsible for the destruction of the Xillian homeworld, and their Xeroxian allies. After the Terran released a number of hibernating Ghidorah specimens in an attempt to use them in their takeover of Earth, Riptide would defeat Cocytus Ghidorah, with some unexpected aid from Neo-Spacegodzilla. Riptide would go on to battle and defeat a number of monsters until December of 2019, when the alien bio-weapon known as the Apocalypse Dragon (Fal'Nyar). This alien had been corrupted by his fusion with Ghidorah DNA, but a combined force of eleven monsters and machines managed to destroy the beast, although his death resulted in the destruction and sinking of Manhatten Island. Riptide was too badly damaged to be rebuilt, so a successor, using a new experimental chassis was created and dubbed Darktide.
Personality:
Riptide, as a machine, is largely cold and uncaring. He does, however, understand the benefits of an alliance and will team up with another monster if necessary to defeat a more powerful foe. If he is fighting alongside a machine, he will attempt to communicate his intentions.
Special Abilities:
Offensive Abilities
1. Super NOVA Cannon- A beam of brilliant blue plasma energy fired from Riptide's mouth. Roughly the power of Heisei Mechagodzilla's Megabuster Ray. a minimal charge time is required to fire this weapon, although it can be charged for additional power. The beam is also very hot, reaching temperatures of 1050o Celsius.
2. Omega ANEC IIIs- The cannons mounted on Riptide's shoulders fire beams of emerald green thermonuclear energy roughly equivalent in power to Heisei Godzilla's regular beam weapon, but also possesed of great kinetic force, similar to GFW Godzilla's beam.. Requires 3 seconds of charge time, and the cannons can contract and fold back along Riptide's back when not in use. These are generally considered more powerful than the Super NOVA, as there are two beams instead of just one.
3. Electroshock Anchors- Titanium cables tipped with an NXT coated harpoon. Has medium range and can pump 1.5 million volts into the target, as well as retract for later use. Comes with a built in surge portector to prevent energy backflow.
4. Missiles- Average strength missiles fired from ports around Riptide's central crystal. These missiles have medium range and excellent homing capabilities and can be fired in bursts of eight. Comparable in power to Kiryu’s missiles.
5. Plasma Cutters- The bladed units on Riptide's arms can produce an emerald green blade of plasma energy between them. Comparable to Destroyah's laser horn. As it is made of plasma, it also cauterizes wounds, thus hampering, or even outright preventing regeneration.
6. Delta Blades- the focusing arrays on the Plasma Cutters can slide together and form a single bladed unit that is slightly weaker than in terms of cutting power than the Plasma Cutters, but it does not cauterize wounds like the Plasma Cutters. The blades are composed of the same alloy as Riptide’s armor, and are also coated with a thin NXT sheath.
7. Corona-Eclipse Overdrive Cannon- Riptide's ultimate weapon and finisher attack, the CEOC is fired from the chest panel. the panel itself splits into four sections and opens up, similar to how Kiryu's chest would open for the Absolute Zero Cannon. The area is tied directly to the reactors, and immediately upon activation, the power-up sequence begins. It takes roughly 15 seconds to charge the weapon, during which time Riptide suffers from a steady decline in power output and combat effectiveness, to a maximum of 75% loss in power and combat effectiveness. Moments before firing, Riptide braces itself as best as possible, using a footlock system similar to Guylos Industries' Berserk Fuhrer (the footlock system does not activate unless the CEOC is being fired).
Once fully charged, the CEOC unleashes a massive stream of super concentrated thermonuclear energy in a straight line ahead. It is similar in appearance to Gamera's Mana Beam, and most everything in it's path is vaporized during the weapon's firing. The beam also generates a powerful concussive shockwave that spreads out from the beam itself, which can knock all but the heaviest monsters back if they happen to be too close. The beam lasts for approximately six seconds before dissipating. After firing, Riptide is incapable of using any of it's weapons, and all but basic movement and subsonic flight. Because of the lengthy charge time and the weapon's drain on the reactors, Riptide uses it very rarely, usually against heavily armored foes or relatively stationary targets, as the destructive potential makes it a poor choice to use within city limits.
Defensive Abilities
1. Barrier Fields- Riptide has a Barrier Field generator in the crystals on both the left and right arm wrist units. Each field is approximately 30 meters in diameter, and can block any attack, physical or otherwise. However, the fields must be re-activated for each use (which takes a few seconds), and continuous bombardment can eventually “break” them, causing them to shut down for a few seconds to recharge. The field is invisible when active, save for a faint shimmering in the air. When it is struck by an attack, it flashes briefly, and leaves a ripple in the air behind it.
2. NXT Synthetic Neo-Diamond Hybrid Armor- Based off the old Mechagodzilla II design, this version uses a thicker chain of carbon atoms for enhanced toughness and durability. The outer sheath covers Riptide entirely, but is only and inch thick or so. Everything from the wings, to the guns, to the bottoms of his feet, with a liquid crystal variant that is applied near the joints, is covered with this compound. The armor is harder, denser, and more durable than regular diamonds. The armor is capable of enduring sustained temperatures of up to 277,760o Celsius (500,000o Fahrenheit) before melting, and can absorb and convert the heat energy, as well as the energy from electrical energy and plasma based attacks as well.

TiTun1 Armor Plating- The armor plating beneath Riptide’s NXT sheath, as well as his endoskeletal armor, is composed of a Titanium Tungsten alloy that is both lightweight and durable, accounting for Riptide’s relatively low body mass. The armor plating is comparable to Mechagodzilla II’s (which took many Spiral Rays to even set it on fire, but still failed to completely destroy it), and can take large amounts of punishment.
4. Mobility- Riptide is capable of flying at Mach 3 in battle, and he can use his booster engines to execute quick strikes on a foe and hover rapidly around the battlefield. The level of maneuverability is comparable to an AC Gundam, but scaled up to kaiju class sizes.
Riptide has 14 primary booster engines located in the following positions:

2- One over each "shoulder blade"
8- 2 on the back of each thigh and each calf.
With an additional cluster of engines in the armor over the feet, as well as twin retroboosters on the front of his hips.
5. Vision Modes- Riptide can see in the normal, infra-red, and ultra-violet spectrums and also has long range RADAR support and satellite uplinks to provide realtime tactical data on the fight.
Combat style:
Riptide operates on two main combat styles depending on the immediately known functions and abilities of his foe. Against a foe with superior ranged firepower, Riptide will close in fast and hard, relying on his melee weaponry and physical combat. Against a foe with no apparent or immediately used ranged weaponry, Riptide resorts to aerial bombardment to stay well out of reach of his foes. As the battle progresses, Riptide updates tactics accordingly, making him more dangerous as the fight drags on. Also, Riptide is largely unconcerned about collateral damage, realizing that it is mostly unavoidable in such a large-scale conflcit, although he will rarely willingly destroy human structures.
Strengths and Weaknesses:
Riptide has no noticeable strengths, being something of an all-around fighter. He can match most any monster in terms of sheer ranged firepower, can go toe-to-toe with Showa Godzilla in pure melee (although he doesn't use Judo or Karate), and can-outdo most foes in aerial combat. This of course, can make him somewhat weak against more specialized foes when entering their danger zones.
Additionally, Riptide's NXT outer layer is weak against piercing/explosive strikes, as the design of the armor couldn't compensate for it as well. It is also weak against concussive blows, although not quite to the extent of normal diamonds. The TiTun coating beneath it is weak against acids.

Riptide vs Spacegodzilla
The city of Los Angeles was in a panic as fire and fleeing civilians filled the streets. Massive crystal towers shookt he earth apart as they ruptured concrete with ease, spearing into the skies at the will of their master. In the center of this forest of crystal, Spacegodzilla, the avatar of destruction himself, emerged, roaring his claim of dominion to all who heard. Unfortunately for the alien saurian, his dominion was about to be challeneged.
The shriek of a high-speed flyby followed in the wake of Riptide's arrival, the machine having been dispatched from his Arizona headquarters minutes ago. Although too late to stop the alien from erecting his fortress, he could, and would, stop him from spreading this destruction any further. Riptide rpaidly slowed to a halt a good distance away from his foe, a dust cloud erupted from his descent. The machine eyed his foe without a noise, quickly making his assesment of the situation. His resemblence to Godzilla suggested the prescense of at least one ranged weapon, and the energy being drawn from the towers suggested them as a possible weak point. Spacegodzilal shrieked his challenge as Riptide flipped his shoulder cannons forward, energy gathering in the barrels, before openign fire on the crystal formations. Fragments of glittering material exploded all around him as he swept the ANECs over the area, destroying a small portion of the field.
Spacegodzilla roared in rage as crimson lightning erupted from his maw, speeding towards Riptide. But the machine could see the charging of such a weapon and was prepared. The energy beam exploded across the invisble barrier erected from the crystal on his wrist, causing it ripple momentarily before vanishing. Spacegodzilla roared as he unleashed a second Corona Beam, the spiraling ray of energy streaking right for Riptide. Once again, the machine raised his arms in a defensive gesture, but the beam suddenly changed course, catching the machine off guard. The weapon coiled and struck him from behind, the dagger-like tip stabbing into his armor at the back of his head. Although the beam appeared to be plasma based, given that Riptide absorbed some of it's power, the dagger-liek extension appeared to be something else entirely.
Riptide retaliated before the smoke even cleared, firing his Super NOVA at the beast. But Spacegodzilla merely raised his own shield, the beam reflecting harmlessly off it's crystalline surface. This told Riptide all he needed to know. Twin blades of glowing green plasma energy sprang from between the blades on his wrists, as hsi booster engines roared to life, sending him flying towards his target. Spacegodzilla reeled in shock as Riptide slammed into him, driving the points of both blades into Spacegodzilla's stomach. The mutated saurian screeched in agony, firing a beam at point blank range.
Sparks erupted from Riptide's face as the machine released a mechanical snarl, his armor absorbing the power of the weapon. He cocked his head back and then drove it forward, smashing it into Spacegodzilla's own skull. A sickening crack accomapnied the collision of metal on crystal, wracking the alien with pain. Riptide didn't relent though and pressed his advantage, withdrawing one of his blades to punch Spacegodzilla in the right side of his face, before ripping the second blade up and out, carving a smoking patch through the monster's hide. Whatever regenerative abilities this creature might have had, the Plasma Cutters took care of them.
Spacegodzilla pummeled at Riptide with his own fists, energy surging from his towers, into his shoulder crystals, and finally out into the machine itself. But once again, Riptide's NXT outer layer took care of would-be energized assaults. As Riptide pressed hsi assault, Spacegodzilla's eyes flashed crimson and psionic energy crackled across hsi body. Twin bolts of emerald energy struck Riptide, enveloping him in a powerful Gravity Tornado. The machine found himself unable to move as the vortex lifted him high off the ground, guided only by Spacegodzilla's will. The machine was helpless as his adversary threw him into one of the few structures to survive his arrival. Rubble and debris sprayed out from the ruins as the machien collapsed the structure with his bulk.

Riptide stirred within the building, quickly getting to his feet, as Spacegodzilla unleashed his assault. Dozens of crystal missiles plummeted towards the machine. Riptide raised an arm to ward off the first wave, then kicked off the ground, flying straight and fast towards Spacegodzilla. The saurian screeched as the machine roared, firing all three beam projectiles in unison. Spacegodzilla could not react in time as the beams exploded his chest, driving him backwards. The machine punched and kicked, alternating some strikes with his Plasma Cutters to hamper his foe's regeneration. But the mutated saurian had another trick up his sleeves. Once again Riptide found himself in the bonds of the Gravity Tornado, unable to retaliate. Spaceogdzilla raised his catch, as a number of crystals rose to meet him, before sending the projectiles speeding towards the prone machine. Riptide's frame shook and jerked as explosives detonated, ripping free chunks of armor with ease. Spacegodzilla slammed his catch back down, creating a small crater on impact, as smoke rose from the damaged machine.
One assault had caught the mech off guard, but it wouldn't be enough to stop him. Joints groaned as he rose to face his foe one last time. Spacegodzilla fired off another Corona Beam, but Riptide shot forward, proppeled by his powerful thrusters, ignoring the beam as it struck a weakened section of armor. The machine lashed out with the Plasma Cutters, drawing smoking wounds on the torso of the mutant. Spacegodzilla buckled under the assault, as Riptide stabbed him in his thighs, dropping the monster to his knees, before raising one arm and driving the blade down through Spacegodzilla's skull, killing him instantly. The alien had done some damage in his brief reign, but now that was over. Others would handle the clean-up as the machine lifted off and returned to base for repairs.

Sparks erupted from Riptide's face as the machine released a mechanical snarl, his armor absorbing the power of the weapon. He cocked his head back and then drove it forward, smashing it into Spacegodzilla's own skull. A sickening crack accomapnied the collision of metal on crystal, wracking the alien with pain. Riptide didn't relent though and pressed his advantage, withdrawing one of his blades to punch Spacegodzilla in the right side of his face, before ripping the second blade up and out, carving a smoking patch through the monster's hide. Whatever regenerative abilities this creature might have had, the Plasma Cutters took care of them.
Spacegodzilla pummeled at Riptide with his own fists, energy surging from his towers, into his shoulder crystals, and finally out into the machine itself. But once again, Riptide's NXT outer layer took care of would-be energized assaults. As Riptide pressed hsi assault, Spacegodzilla's eyes flashed crimson and psionic energy crackled across hsi body. Twin bolts of emerald energy struck Riptide, enveloping him in a powerful Gravity Tornado. The machine found himself unable to move as the vortex lifted him high off the ground, guided only by Spacegodzilla's will. The machine was helpless as his adversary threw him into one of the few structures to survive his arrival. Rubble and debris sprayed out from the ruins as the machien collapsed the structure with his bulk.
Spacegodzilla roared as he levitated off the ground, a veritable forest of crystals accomapnying his rise. Riptide stirred within the building, quickly getting to his feet, as Spacegodzilla unleashed his assault. Dozens of crystal missiles plummeted towards the machine. Riptide raised an arm to ward off the first wave, then kicked off the ground, flying straight and fast towards Spacegodzilla. The saurian screeched as the machine roared, firing all three beam projectiles in unison. Spacegodzilla could not react in time as the beams exploded his chest, driving him backwards. His levitation was good, but he lacked maneuverability. Riptide, however, did not.
The machine punched and kicked, alternating some strikes with his Plasma Cutters to hamper his foe's regeneration. Blood flowed from Spacegodzilla's nostrils as Riptide raised both fists, slamming them down on the monster's skull, driving Spacegodzilla back towards earth. But the mutated saurian had another trick up his sleeves. Once again Riptide found himself in the bonds of the Gravity Tornado, unable to retaliate. Spaceogdzilla raised his catch, as a number of crystals rose to meet him, before sending the projectiles speeding towards the prone machine. Riptide's frame shook and jerked as explosives detonated, ripping free chunks of armor with ease. Spacegodzilla slammed his catch back down, creating a small crater on impact, as smoke rose from the damaged machine.
One assault had caught the mech off guard, but it wouldn't be enough to stop him. Joints groaned as he rose to face his foe one last time. Spacegodzilla fired off another Corona Beam, but Riptide shot forward, proppeled by his powerful thrusters, ignoring the beam as it struck a weakened section of armor. The machine lashed out with the Plasma Cutters, drawing smoking wounds on the torso of the mutant. Spacegodzilla buckled under the assault, as Riptide stabbed him in his thighs, dropping the monster to his knees, before raising one arm and driving the blade down through Spacegodzilla's skull, killing him instantly. The alien had done some damage in his brief reign, but now that was over. Others would handle the clean-up as the machine lifted off and returned to base for repairs.
