Name: Megaloraktak
Story appearances: Kreaturez: Comic Series (In un-mutated form)
Height: 52 meters
Weight: 28,000 tons
Origin Story: In the parallel world of Dimentiara exist a plethora of life-forms known as “Kreatures”. One of these many species is a predatory Reptimammal known as a Raktak, which evolved in seclusion on a small island and preys specifically on geodermids; Kreatures which feed on metal ores in order to grow metallic exoskeletons.
One particular female Raktak (with her Joey tagging along in her pouch) was out hunting one day when she found herself sucked into a trans-dimensional portal which had suddenly opened up. Kreatures such as herself often found themselves dubbed as “TMK”s, or “Temporally Misplaced Kreatures”, which often ended up on earth and were reported as cryptids on the rare occasions they were seen. However, something about this portal was different, as she was sucked between universes she felt her KE aura fluctuating.
When she emerged, the female Raktak now found herself having shapeshifted into a larger, more powerful form; Megaloraktak. The FFKT universe now finds itself the home of a savage new predator, and she’s eating for two…
Personality: Megaloraktak, being a wild animal, behaves like one; her primary concerns are feeding, surviving, and protecting her young, and will go to any length to meet these basal, instinctive demands. Though the Joey in her pouch was absorbed back into her body when she mutated into her current form, it still exists inside her as a foetus and thus her maternal instincts are still in full swing. With both the inherent aggression of a predator and the hormonally charged wrath and sexual frustration of a pregnant female, she is an extremely dangerous and violent monster.
Special Abilities: Megaloraktak’s primary weapon, inherited from her base animal form, is the Mineral Dissolution Ray, which she projects from her mouth. The MDR’s wavelength is fine-tuned to breaking down the crystalline structures which bond metals, allowing her to strip away the metallic armour of her natural prey from a safe distance. It carries no kinetic energy, and thus will pass through force-fields, but will not injure an opponent with concussive force. Though devastatingly powerful against geodermids (and, by extension, Mecha and cyborgs), it has no effect on organic tissues such as flesh, gristle and bone.
In addition, Megaloraktak is armed with a plethora of sharp physical extremities, most notably her enlarged hindclaws and sabre teeth, which can tear through the flesh of other monsters with ease. She possesses great lower body strength, her hind legs powerful enough to enable her to leap 200 meters straight up, and cover half a kilometre with a single bound; she can also use her tail to aide her agility, to spin around on a dime while leaping along at high-speed. In short, even without her MDR she is a fast, fearsome kickboxer and a force to reckon with at point-blank.
Combat style: Showmanship matters for nought in the harsh reality of the wild, and Megaloraktak fights to take down her opponent with minimal injury and energy expenditure. She fights in a decidedly hit and run style, striking with ferocity, and retreating if her effort fails before setting up another attack. She will use her surroundings to her advantage if possible, taking cover behind buildings and launching sneak attacks; she’ll attempt to strike at angles where her opponent will have difficulty countering and aim for soft, vital areas like the throat and underbelly.
Strengths and Weaknesses: Megaloraktak’s effectiveness against metallic opponents and lethality in melee needs little further embellishment. However, possessing no ranged weapons beyond the MDR, she’ll find herself disadvantaged against purely organic monsters that specialise in beam spamming.
Sample Fight: Megaloraktak lifted her head from the oceanic park’s main pool with an Orca thrashing between her fangs. Tilting her head back and tossing the cetacean down her throat, Shamu would provide little sustenance for herself or her soon-to-be-born offspring, but it was better than nothing; just finding enough food for herself in this new world was a constant hassle, and those tiny machines which pestered her at every turn were quite the thorn in her side as well.
…Speaking of which, here come more of them! She had been through this song and dance before. She intercepted their projectile weapons with her beam, turned it on the machines themselves and gobbled up the little critters inside. Though highly abstract thought was beyond her limited mental capabilities, like any animal she was capable of relating cause and effect, and had come to learn that causing a ruckus in areas with tall structures of metal and stone would have the desirable effect of bringing the prey to her, meagre as it was.
Suddenly, a new arrival whose size was comparable to hers arrived at the scene. Kiryu disengaged from the Shirasagi control jets and uttered a metallic hiss. Her mouth watered; a decent meal at last!
Kiryu opened fire with its shoulder mounted missile launchers. Megaloraktak returned fire, disintegrating the missiles in mid flight, and then wiped out the Mechagodzilla with a single sweeping blast of her ray. With nothing to support it, the underlying Godzilla bone infrastructure collapsed into a heap, to Megaloraktak’s extreme disappointment. Ever the optimist, she picked up a femur and cracked it between her jaws, hoping to at least extract some marrow from it, but alas, it had long ago rotted away and left her with nothing but a musty, chalky aftertaste.
She vented her ire on the Shirisagi jets, turning her ray on them and catching the pilots in her mouth.
But all hope was not lost; the JSDF dispatched the cyborg Mecha King Ghidorah as backup. It swooped overhead, casting a shadow over Megaloraktak and raining down gravity bolts on the predator. She screeched her displeasure as the bolts seared across her hide, and quickly leapt away to avoid sustaining further damage. Mecha King Ghidorah cackled and continued to pursue her from the air, raining down more blasts. As the cyborg dragon chased her, she initiated evasive action, leaping erratically, weaving this way and that, swiftly dodging Ghidorah’s blasts.
She would have no more of this. The predator ducked behind a large tower, shielding herself briefly from the assault. When the structure crumbled away, she returned fire with her ray, aiming for the characteristically shiny, metallic parts of her foe. Mecha King Ghidorah raised his force field, but to no effect; the ray, carrying no kinetic energy, passed right through the shield and tore off the center head. She swept the beam and tore off a wing, and the cyborg plummeted to the ground. Megaloraktak continued to strip away her opponent’s armour, leaving behind only his natural components.
King Ghidorah, free from his cybernetic enhancements, rose to his feet and shrieked. Though wingless and sans one of his three heads, the evil dragon engaged his opponent regardless, spewing forth his gravity bolts. Megaloraktak, however, was now the one with the mobility advantage, and leaped right over the assault, landing behind the monster. Immediately upon touching down, she swung around and leapt once more, but King Ghidorah lashed out with his twin tails and smacked his opponent aside in mid-leap. Twisting in the air with catlike agility, Megaloraktak landed on her feet and pounced again, clamping her jaws into the beast’s flank, the impact of her leap toppling Ghidorah over onto his side.
The two monsters tumbled about, crushing buildings and cars and stray military vehicles in their wake. King Ghidorah managed to throw his aggressor onto her back, and leapt, hoping to crush her underneath his body. However, she lashed out with her hind legs, kicking him backwards and ripping open deep gashes in his hide.
Ghidorah stumbled, and Megaloraktak seized his moment of weakness, kicking him over and sinking her jaws into his right neck. Blood gushed as she clamped down, and with a sickening crunch, she bit off his head. The remaining serpent head lashed out, but Megaloraktak was quick to grab this one in her jaws too. She put King Ghidorah out of his misery, disembowelling him with a single stroke of her hindclaw.
Megaloraktak buried her face in King Ghidorah’s entrails. With over twice her own weight in alien dragon meat to whet her appetite, for the first time since she had arrived in this world she would feast to her heart’s content.
