Name: Zay City
Story appearances: Kreaturez, Comic Series
Size: 4,570 square kilometres
Description: Zay City is the capital of Zaytopia and the largest human city in Dimentiara. Located on the southeast coast of North Kaizaa, its climate is semi-tropical and overall the city is reminiscent of a parallel universe Los Angeles. Originally named "New Ottawa" by the first human settlers, its name was changed in the wake of the Human/Duhdorian War to Zay City, in recognition of the Duhdorian-named Zay Marshlands, over which it was built. It is also the home of the Kreature Battling Federation Headquarters, which oversees all officially sanctioned Kreature battles in the Tikya Commonwealth.
In addition to all this, Zay City has been featured in many Zorgeksa movies as a stomping ground for the titular character and his opponents.
Hazards and Notable Landmarks:
Zay City is well fortified. Forcefield projectors stand immediately outside the city, protecting it with a neigh impenetrable dome to keep wild Kreatures from wandering into the city and raising havoc. Though Zorgeksa's electromagnetic paws have allowed him to easily short-circuit this forcefeild in the past, it remains an extremely potent barrier. Nothing short of an highly determined, concentrated effort will allow a monster to enter or leave the city. In addition, its strength means that the combatants will be able to bash eachother against it a la GDAMM.
Most of the buildings in Zay City are constructed of Za-Zok, an extemely resiliant substance derived from Wuu-Dasu resin, that can be mixed with various materials to form compounds. Given the tensile strength of the buildings, they are difficult to knock down and larger ones are strong enough to bear the weight of a monster that might jump or climb on one. Smaller buildings can be uprooted and weilded as projectile weapons. The largest buildings in the city stand 50-160 meters tall, offering cover for kaiju of just about any size.
The tallest building in Zay City is the cleverly named Zay City Tower. It stands about 1,250ft tall and resembles Toronto's CN Tower, only a LOT pointier at the top with red, green and white stripes along its length, giving it the appearence of a giant broken candy cane. Constructed of a very strong Ka-Zok/Titanium alloy compound, it is very tough to knock over... and offers a rather convenient and deadly hazard for a strong enough flying monster to carry and drop an opponent onto. Since the tip is somewhat tapered, a monster weighing above 20,000 tons will have to be carried at least a kilometer above the tower in order to build up enough momentum to be sish-kebabed instead of simply crushing the top of the tower.
Cutting through the city and draining out into the bay is the Sawtooth River. Though only about 30 meters at its deepest, it forms a gap in the forcefield and aquatic monsters can use it to escape if need be. Crossing the river is the Zay City bridge, a giant suspension bridge about 500ft long. It can support up to 70,000 tons.
In the dead center of Zay City is Central Park, roughly triangular shaped and about 116 square kilometers. In the center of the park is the city's powerplant, which draws energy from the three Wuu-Dasu trees that inhabit the park. Destroying the trees or the power plant will disable the forcefield and, at night, also plunge the city into total darkness. The former is easier said than done, however, as the Wuu-Dasu trees, standing 1000' tall and armed with solar-beam shooting flowers, projectile thorns and strangling vines are practically giant monsters unto themselves. koobine.deviantart.com/art/Kreature-Profile-Wuu-Dasu-54862282
