As the sun began to set over Mutant Isle, Zorgeksa began to stir. Soon the night would be upon him, and after being cooped up in his cave all day, the crazy kung fu lizard looked foreword to being able to go for a stroll and flex his stiff, aching muscles without the sun's searing glow beating down on him. He stretched, yawned and licked a smudge off his translucent eye scale.
As he patrolled the edge of his territory, Zorgeksa couldn't help but feel like something has amiss. Trees were crushed and there were strange footprints. He roared, hoping to flush out the intruder.

Rygama grumbled irritably as she crunched a large palm tree between her jaws, gulping down the ill-flavored mass. Foliage was an abundant food source, but it was nowhere near as satisfying as living meat.
A loud roar suddenly assaulted her ears... er...eyes. The quadphibian looked up, scanning the surrounding terrain. Someone else was here. Possibly a meal.
Rygama began to follow the source of the roar, climbing up a hillside, drawing closer to the source of the disturbance.

Up over the hills came a critter like nothing Zorgeksa had ever seen.
The Lord of the Mutants looked at the newcomer inquisitively, bracing himself, lest it attack him. Sometimes monsters were friends, but more often than not they were enemies, and this one certainly looked rather spikey and fearsome.
Zorgeksa's spots lit up and twinkled against his grey/blue hide, sparks leapt from his paws, and he roared at the intruder again in a dazzling threat display. Sometimes it frightened enemies away, sometimes it didn't...

Rygama didn't like the look of that. This creature seemed hostile. She rose onto her hind legs and roared back at the creature, hoping to warn it off. If this didn't work... if nothing else, she could get a bite to eat that didn't taste like crap afterwards...

His threat display failed to scare off the intruder. Zorgeksa mused offhandedly that he would need to come up with a more impressive one... but that would have to wait until later.
Zorgeksa crouched low and then sprang at Rygama, jaws agape, fangs bared, sticky paws crackling with electricity. The fight was on!

Rygama wasn't really surprised, but was startled just the same. She instinctively dropped back onto all fours, bringing her armored back to bear as the reptoid pounced.

OH SHIT, SPIKES
LOTS OF THEM
Zorgeksa reacted as quickly as he could. Luckily, Rygama's spines swept back instead of pointed foreword; Zorgeksa sprang off the dull front edge of the largest one, narrowly avoiding the point, and flipped backwards, landing on his foot and one knee. A split second too slow and he would've been painfully skewered right in the family jewls!
Zorgeksa rose to his feet and mentally tailwhipped himself for being so hasty. He tipped foreword, uprooting an enormous boulder from the ground with his forepaws. "Maybe this'll crack those spikes", he thought, and heaved it in Rygama's direction.

Rygama snarled, trying to back out of the boulder's path. Unfortunately, quadrapedal locomotion wasn't the quickest. The massive rock split over her forehead, raining dust and shrapnel into the jungle.
Rygama shook her bleeding head, parting her jaws wide and roaring loudly in agitation. Setting her sights on the reptoid's throat, Rygama leaped, jaws agape.

Zorgeksa stood his ground. Seconds before Rygama crashed into him, he grabbed her jaws, struggling to hold them open as her momentum brought them both to the ground. Pushing at her with his feet, Zorgeksa tried to shove her off, deliberately avoiding electrocuting her, lest her jaw muscles contract and slice off his fingers.

Rygama fell off of Zorgeksa, landing on her side next to him and rolling back onto her stomach before rising to all fours. This creature was as nimble as it was strong. She would have to be on her toes for this one.
With a snarl, she leaped again, ducking her head low and kicking against the ground, flinging her lower torso over her head and somersaulting right into Zorgeksa, turning her spiked carapace into an iron-maiden.

Zorgeksa wailed in pain and fury as Rygama's momentum knocked him down and her spikes dug into his flesh. Shoving with his feet, he popped her off and rolled out of the way. A breif torrent of blood shot from the series of wounds before they quickly scabbed over and sealed back up. His paws sparking, Zorgeksa grabbed his opponent and sent a powerful surge of electricity into her body.

Rygama threw her head back and roared an earth-shaking cry as the electricity coursed through her body. Heat she could take. Blunt trauma she could take, but electricity was horrid, attacking her nerves. But she wasn't about to let it get the best of her. She was freakin' Rygama! With involuntarily shaking arms, Rygama violently lashed up, gripping Zorgeksa's shoulder in one of her massive hands. Roaring again to fight against the pain, Rygama heaved upward, carrying the reptilian monster with it and hurling him over her head. She released, flinging the blue behemoth down the very hill she had just climbed and into the jungle below.

Zorgeksa tumbled down the side of the hill, looking ignonimously like a big empty rubber suit. Coming to a stop at the base of the hill, Zorgeksa rolled back to his feet, and then retaliated with a blast from his Zab Breath, aiming it square at Rygama's chest.

As luck would have it, Rygama had turned to gaze at her fallen enemy just in time to open up her chest to a direct hit from the blast. No roar of pain rang out this time, instead replaced by a low, irritated growl, even as the screaming bolt ripped a fracture into her pectoral plates.
Purple mist rose up in torrents, marking where the blast had evaporated her violet blood.
Growling still, Rygama knelt, lowering her body to the ground - then pushed off and jumped not less than one-hundred-fifty feet straight outwards, hopping right off the hill she was perched on! Without missing a beat, she swung her lower body back beneath her, bringing her hefty, taloned feet down. Her arms flew out to the sides, keeping her balance as her momentum gave out and she began to drop feet-first... right at Zorgeksa's head...

Zorgeksa reacted swiftly, bringing his hands up to catch his opponent.
POCK! POCK! Zorgeksa's paws stuck to the soles of Rygama's feet. Using her weight and momentum against her, Zorgeksa swung her down, bashing her facefirst into the ground. He lifted her again, and slammed her down once more, again and again, her body impossibly rigid as he did so, as if she were an empty rubber suit being suspended by wires from an unseen studio ceiling.

Rygama hissed and gagged as she was beaten into the earth. The ground beneath her began to fracture as her rigid body duh into it. But she wasn't about to be outdone. Like a snake, her muscular tail lashed outwards, swinging itself around Zorgeksa's throat, binding it like a python with a mouse. With nary a pause, her wingcase parted, revealing her insectile wings. They immediately began beating, soon becoming a multicolored distortion in the air. Digging her talons into the ground for leverage, Rygama seized control of the grapple, pushing off and taking to the air, dragging Zorgeksa by the throat.
The retrosaurian found his body drug across the earth, his feet digging into it, casting a wake of rubble and debris as his enemy drug him across the ground, ever accelerating.
